Hot plates are used to create hot spots and aid digestion in animals. The contact temperature of a plate is around 30°. Elle emits radiant heat which penetrates the animals' bodies, activating their metabolism. In the event of overheating, a 50° circuit-breaker cuts off power to the plate. Although not as sophisticated as a thermostat, it is designed to limit the risk of fire if the product is misused.
